A total of 12, 687 Music for Young Children students from across Canada,
the U.S., New Zealand and South Korea took part in the annual
composition festival.
Every single composition is played, and the judges
put their favorites through to the 2nd round. The 2nd round compositions
are played again and several favorites are forwarded to the final 3rd
round. From the 3rd round 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are selected and the
rest of the compositions that made it to the final round are awarded
Honorable Mentions.
William Harsent, age 6, received an Honorable Mention in the Western
division for the Sunbeam Two level. He has been studying with Candyce
Johnson, an MYC teacher at PJ Music Studios here in Langford.
